This is a year-long course open to 8th grade students who love to sing and dance and who are willing to commit to the high energy and responsibility associated with a performance group of this genre. In Chorus, vocal techniques and music reading are emphasized while students are both singing and performing choreography to a variety of musical styles from classical to contemporary spanning a number of cultures.
The Chorus may perform at a number of events throughout the year such as "Pieces of Gold" (Wake County School's performing arts showcase), the Durham Bulls, school activities and evening concerts...therefore students should anticipate some after-school practices and evening performances.
Chorus members will purchase a West Cary Chorus polo shirt that will be worn for some of the performances. Other outfits will be determined by performance needs. Students also have the option of purchasing a West Cary Fine Arts t-shirt and sweatshirt.
